Volunteer Nevada County

Songbird Team Volunteers

April 17, 2017

Wildlife Rehabilitation and Release is in need of volunteers to join the Songbird Team. Support the functions of the WR&R Intake Center from May 1st – August 31st and help rehabilitate injured and diseased songbirds in Nevada County. Volunteer responsibilities include answering the phone to educate callers on how to handle wild songbirds and refer people outside of Nevada County to appropriate agencies, receiving songbirds at the Intake Center and ensuring that Medical Database forms are filled out correctly. Volunteers will also get a chance to assist with bird exams, sterilize equipment between exams, preparing and cleaning bird cages and keeping the worm bins clean and well stocked. Occasionally volunteers may be asked to transport birds between Auburn and Grass Valley.

WR&R will provide information regarding songbird care and agencies outside Nevada County for phone conversations. They will explain all WRMD forms and donation methods and training will be provided on how to assist with exams, take care of the equipment, as well as the cages and worm bins.
